| A few movies that definitely should be seen: Apocalypse Now (I like the Redux version as well, some people don't). Donnie Darko Gladiator Blade Runner The Deer Hunter El Laberinto del Fauno (a.k.a in English by the kinda bad translation of Pan's Labyrinth) Nueve Reinas (Nine Queens) Goodfellas The Godfather V for Vendetta Psycho Casablanca Robin Hood: Men in Tights The Princess Bride This is Spinal Tap Wayne's World I definitely agree with many of Dread's choices. I might think of posting some more later. | |

| ? Those are quality movies. I'm not gonna start ragging on DrD because I didn't think Titanic was a spectacular movie. Please, stick to the Fire Pit. | |

| i didnt see the godfather in there. maybe I missed it. id like to add the original star wars trilogy, 2001: a space odyssey, and the matrix Princess bride was actually a pretty good movie, not so sure about men in tights tho, but it gets points for realizing how ridiculous it is | |

| Blade Runner (1982, Directed by Ridley Scott, Starring Harrison Ford and Rutger Hauer), is, in my opinion, the greatest Sci-fi movie ever made. Just putting it out there. | |

| Alot of people went bonkers over The Star War Trilogy, but I found it somewhat ok, most of the acting was horrible, stages was some of the special effects was laughable, even Dune was better. What made Star Wars Big was the movies before it and the growing popularity about UFO's and Close encounters fuel it.The kids that were the baby boomers era heads was stuff with the cold war, sci fi comic books and magizines, even lucas was one of those kids. I like those more believable type sci fi. | |

| #32 the thing, with old school Kurt Russel was a great film. i saw it recently again in a remastered format. it was sick.
theres some comical parts in the movie, like when they are testing the blood with the heat, i just remember the colored guy freaking out.......too f'n funny. i forget his movie name.
what about "eacape from new york" < love it.
btw wheres "good fellas" did i miss it. my favorite move all time.
then "uncommon valor" and "my girl" was actually one of my favs and made me cry when he got stung to death by bees. |

| In no particular order:
Anything by Stanley Kubrick, particularly Doctor Strangelove Anything by Darren Aronofsky, particularly Pi Anything by Akira Kurosawa, although particularly Kagemusha The Good, The Bad & The Ugly by Sergio Leone Faust by F.W. Murnau Nosferatu by F.W. Murnau The Last Laugh by F.W. Murnau Metropolis by Fritz Lang M by Fritz Lang
There's tons more, but combing through all the directors I love and all the movies I like by them is very tedious work. It's worse than picking my favorite bands. Primarily I'm a huge fan of German Expressionist films, and things descended from this style. Although, I like a few more popular films too.

False. In terms of greatest ever, that award (in my experience) goes to Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky. But then again, everyone has a differing opinions.

| Until major break thru in computer automations, special effects in the 90's to today, alot of people thinks star wars was a break thru but Close incounters of the 3rd kind, was a well written , acted and special effects film at that time, way better than star wars i feel, and the movie alien ansd alien special effects and props blew stary wars away. | |
